Design

Design Process Stage One

The first step in the process is to meet you on site to discuss the scope of the work. Once we review what your needs are and what kind of budget you are working with, I send you a contract and a questionnaire. I will also measure the property and develop a base map to scale. Once I receive the answers to the questionnaire, I give you an estimate of cost and time. The costs may include quotes for services from specialty vendors.

Once the contract is signed and the downpayment received, I create preliminary designs with color pencil overlays. We then meet at your home to where I present the designs to you and get your initial impressions. Once you have had a chance to review the designs, we meet again to discuss your feedback. Many times, my clients like one element from one design and another element of another design.

The final design is then created based on our meeting. This plan includes all plant specifications and hardscape and lighting placement. We then meet again where I present you with the final plan. The final plan also includes photo’s of selected plants and a plant list.

Deliverables

The Landscape Plan detailing hardscape, plant specifications, lighting placement, plant material care list detailing size, how many and plant descriptions and care instructions.

Design Process Stage Two

Implementation Process

I hand select plants to ensure optimal quality and arrange delivery to the job. I then place plants on the property to ensure the integrity of the design. I will coordinate with the contractors during all aspects of implementation including plant implementation. I also purchase and place garden ornamentation such as fountains, statuary, pots and furniture.

Consultations

If an overall landscape design is not required, a consultation may be all that is needed. After meeting with you and discussing your needs, I will answer questions and give you advice. If needed, I will prepare a detailed estimate for the project. Once approved, I manage the project and bring in the crews needed to complete it on time. I carefully hand select the best quality plants from the nursery, arrange for delivery once the yard has been readied and I place the plants and oversee all aspects of the implementation to include amending the soil, planting, adding irrigation, installing water features, lighting and finishing it all off with new mulch. I charge an hourly rate for my design consultation service.

Garden Coaching

As your garden coach I can perform garden check up when needed. Garden coaching services cover pruning, fertilizing, overall recommendations to keep your garden healthy. If required, I can bring in a certified arborist to maintain the health and vigor of your trees and treat any potential problems. As your garden coach, I can also help you plan a plant a winter and/or summer vegetable garden.

Specialty Pruning

The average “mow and blow” gardening teams don’t know the art of pruning. I prune plants to ensure health and vitality throughout the year.
